Dear Diana,
We went to visit Miss Margery Neal in the hospital today. We sang for her, and I almost cried. After that, we went to Food-4-Less. Not romantic, but we also went to the Redlands campus, stopping in the flat fountain. Redlands is a very beautiful city. I got my SCAT scores today. Even though I got some wrong, I'm above average, and equal (maybe better) of the sixth graders from the dark lagoon. We had a lot of fun today. Still excited about Oceanside.

Dear Diana,
"A picture is worth a thousand words..."

Picture of me, looking cute, and HER looking all nasty.

June 27, 2005

Dear Diana,
I finished my test. Mom and Dad said I finished in record time, because I didn't take a break. We went shopping afterwards. Guess what? We're going to Oceanside sometime this week. I'm so excited! Oops, we're going to the library. Bye.

This test was (I believe) an IQ test, or something of that nature. Unfortunately, I can't remember much about it.

June 26, 2005

Dear Diana,
I have a test tomorrow. I'm not scared, but I wonder what it's like. It's in Redlands. Did I neglect to mention, Apo is moving to Redlands? We will go to Oceanside to help her move. Today was Sunday. We unpacked boxes, and the mold must hate us, 'cause both me and Mom got a little sick. I hope it's not catching!

Dear Diana,
Today is the Sabbath. We're listening to Dido and Aeneas. I like the music, but the sorceress sounds funny. She sounds as evil as a fury. Belinda has a nice voice, though. This might look girly to be writing with a pink pen, but I used to like pink when I was young and foolish. I chose a pink pen out of a big selection. Nowadays, I would have chosen purple, but I chose (and got) pink. Nice to be able to write all I want. I would change my name to Marina if I could only change one letter. Guess what? We're going to Oceanside next week to help Apo move. Did you know she's moving to Redlands? Xander got a tag attack here, so

Dear Diana,
We had a so-and-so day. Dad read about so-and-so. I think Dad is being a maniac tonight. He's going out of his way to yell at us tonight. I hate it when we can't take a shower/bath. An unusual specimen is me. I'm almost lost in the mists of time (and Dad is trying to destroy my race). Everyone my age is interested in boys, makeup, clothes, and sleepovers. I, on the other had, am interested in Amazons/huntresses/Elisar/Greek mythology/warrior women, history, learning, fun, and a mentality of thinking. But not really being pretty. Just being smart.

Kitty

I think everyone goes through the I'm-not-like-other-girls stage. It's important to mention that I in no way looked down on other girls for having different interests, and I didn't think I was superior in any way (that, unfortunately, came later). Not having been raised in an atmosphere of feminism (Dad was and still is highly sexist), I was firmly convinced that there existed a dichotomy between stereotypically "girly" pastimes and what I was interested in. That there could exist a makeup-wearing clothes horse who also loved math and literature never entered my mind. All in all, this post shows an attitude borne of ignorance, not of malice.

Dear Diana,
We had our lesson today. Mom and her tai-chi class, and we had TKD, alias HER time. Of course she had her hair curled and pinned, and of course she would think herself pretty and smart and me stupid and ugly, but other than that... Listen, I really have to go. Bye.

Dear Diana,
Can't write much. We subromaticly combusted. It was real encomire. Do you like the weird words? Don't be worried. It means: "I can't write much. We went to the sparring marathon. I almost combusted, I was so tired. Real draining." We really did. I have justified proof that SHE thinks I'm stupid... and now I know!

Dear Diana,
Today was the Redlands Bowl. It was dreamy. We played– but wait. Starting out, we went to rehearsal, and then we rode over to the Redlands Bowl in a pickup truck! You see, Dad took the car, so we rode in my orchestra teacher's vehicle. Then we played concerto gross, and had a reception. The lemonade was delicious, which reminds me, I forgot to go to the bathroom!

Dear Diana,
The Redlands Bowl is tomorrow. I'm so excited! I had another HER episode today. She picked me out of a huge crowd (though she knows it's embarrassing, the silent siren, that's why she did it) who were all talking loudly. She walked over, the ---- person, and told me of all people, to be quiet. I wasn't even making any noise, you furious fury! I think she's prejudiced against me, but... uh-oh, bye!

Kitty

I was such a sweet and innocent child that I put blanks instead of swear words. In fact, I didn't really know any words to fill the blanks with; I just thought they gave the piece some character and imparted the feeling that I was trying to convey.

Dear Diana,
Today was a rock-y day. It was Fathers' Day, so we did fun stuff on that basis. We got to go shopping at three stores! We did some graffiti (on boxes, with chalk) outside, until Anselm started attacking me. Xander makes Christian graffiti, like "The Seventh Day is the Sabbath" and "Observe the Sabbath." So, Diana... Did you have a good day? I am, but with just a few rough sports. Like now. Anselm is driving me absolutely BONKERS! He's making me nuts! He's forcing me up the wall! Hummph. See you around.

Dear Diana,
I'll write as long as possible, which may not be long, but see? I'm taking up room already. A bit more small talk... We had a tiny party today. Just some people from church and us. We had lemon meringue* pie, and even the tempeh tasted good. Tempeh is soy beans fermented in yeast, and while Mom says it's "meaty" and "actually kind of nutty," I think it has no flavor at all, unless you douse it with ketchup and Braggs. Braggs is pretty Adventist/ It's this stuff like soy sauce, but it's from "Patricia Braggs's Health Crusade." She has a book and everything. See ya later alligator! I gotta go to bed.

Kitty

*I don't know how to spell "meringue." Even Mom doesn't know, so I certainly wouldn't!

Dear Diana,
Look, I hate making short entries, but I have to. Unless I can break my habit of writing before bed, I fear they will all be like this. Well, bye.

Dear Diana,

June 15, 2005

Dear Diana,
It's morning now, so I can write. That pencil didn't work, so I have to get a new one. Actually, it's a marker/pen, but whatever. I have to write a page, because of a contract with Anselm to get him to leave. Sparring tonight. I wonder what meanness SHE will concoct. You said in your letter (one of them) that boys at Kicks are handsome. Which ones? You know I have this stupid l♡ve thing going on with one of the boys at Kicks. It's secret, and awful. I have no IDEA how it started, because it was just "hmm, mhmm, there's that guy, whatever," and then it was all ♡♡♡ and I have no idea why. I'll bet you want to know the boy. Well, it's Sergio 1.

Kitty

Amazing fact! The first license plate was made in Denver!

It sounds like I'm having an affair or something. I just had a little crush for goodness' sakes. No need to fret.

June 14, 2005

Dear Diana,
Write soon, please, Diana. Today we went to... guess it! TKD! Why why why why why? You know, I think it's hilarious when they talk about respect, because SHE doesn't respect me in the least bit. Today she wore a shirt that showed her tummy (tanned) and a skirt that showed her undies. Pretty shocking for an Adventist girl.

Kitty

Amazing fact! The largest neurons in the world are found in the giant squid!

June 13, 2005

Dear Diana,
We went to Little Ninjas today (why the people at Kicks promote assassins, I will never know). I mean, Anselm wasn't joining, but he was observing. We were supposed to go to Sticks Class, but we didn't. We were so late that we couldn't. Dad and Xander went, though. I really gotta stop writing just before bed, cause I have to go now, and I can never write as much as is satisfactory. I'm writing as fast as I can now...

Kitty

Amazing fact! It takes a week to make a jellybean!

June 12, 2005

Dear Diana,
So... Apo came, we went to Xander's last concert of the year, and we had a singing. I wonder why everyone stares at me. I'm too tired to write any more. Bye.

Kitty

June 11, 2005

Dear Diana,
The Sabbath today. It was a great day, I even practiced well. We had pizza, and Talia started in on the "Oh, I'm so full! I will never be even able to get up! Ooh! Aaahhhh... I'll never eat another bite."* Tomorrow is a singing, and Xander's concert. This may sound easy, but Xander has to be in, you guessed it, Claremont while the singing is going on. Bye!!

Kitty

**She's silly, huh
